How to Change Your Wi-Fi Name & Password
Pristine Internet Gateway — Customer Guide
Want to give your Wi-Fi network a custom name or a more secure password? This guide walks you through updating your Gateway's Wi-Fi settings from the admin panel.
Before You Start
You will need to be logged in to your admin panel at 192.168.0.1 using your Admin Password before making any changes. If you haven't done this before, see Guide 3 — How to Access Your Admin Panel.
|
💡 Note: Your Gateway uses a single Wi-Fi network name for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The device automatically moves your connected devices between bands for the best performance — this is called the Self-Organizing Network (SON) feature. You do not need to manage the two bands separately. |
Step-by-Step Instructions
|
1 |
Log in to your admin panel. Connect to your Gateway Wi-Fi or Ethernet, open a browser, go to 192.168.0.1, and log in with your Admin Password from the label on the back of the device. |
|
2 |
Navigate to Wi-Fi Settings. From the main screen, you will see the Change Wi-Fi name screen — either through the Easy Setup Wizard or directly from the dashboard settings. |
The Wi-Fi settings screen — change your network name (SSID) and password here. Guest Wi-Fi can also be enabled from this screen.
|
3 |
Change your Wi-Fi Name (SSID). In the Wi-Fi Name field, delete the current name and type your new preferred network name. Choose something unique and easy to identify. |
|
4 |
Change your Wi-Fi Password. In the Wi-Fi Password field, enter your new password. Use something at least 8 characters long that you will remember. |
|
5 |
Set up Guest Wi-Fi (optional). The Gateway supports a separate Guest Wi-Fi network for visitors. Find the Guest Wi-Fi toggle and switch it from DISABLED to ENABLED, then set a name and password for the guest network. |
|
💡 Guest Wi-Fi runs on the 2.4 GHz band only. This makes it ideal for smart home devices such as cameras, thermostats, and appliances that only support 2.4 GHz — they will connect more reliably to the Guest network. It also keeps those devices off your primary network, helping keep your main Wi-Fi faster and less congested. |
|
6 |
Click "Continue" to save. Once you have entered your new settings, click the CONTINUE button to apply the changes. |
|
⚠️ Heads up: If you are connected to the Gateway via Wi-Fi when you change the Wi-Fi name or password, you will be disconnected as soon as the new settings are applied. This is normal — go to your Wi-Fi settings, find your new network name, and reconnect using the new password. |
|
7 |
Confirmation screen appears. A "You're all set up!" screen will confirm your new Wi-Fi settings are active. Click Go to Network Settings to access the main dashboard. |
"You're all set up!" — your new Wi-Fi name and password are now active.
|
8 |
Reconnect your devices. On each of your devices, go to Wi-Fi settings, select your new network name, and enter the new password to reconnect. |
Tips for a Good Wi-Fi Password
• Use at least 8 characters — longer is stronger
• Mix letters, numbers, and symbols where possible
• Avoid using your name, address, or other personal information
• Write it down somewhere safe or save it in a password manager
