SIM Card Removal & Installation

Pristine Internet Gateway — Customer Guide

This guide walks you through safely removing and reinserting the SIM card in your Pristine Internet Gateway. You may need to do this if your device is not connecting to the network, if you are replacing a damaged SIM card, or if directed by a Pristine Internet support representative.

Before You Start

•  Always power off the Gateway before handling the SIM card. Unplug the device from the power outlet and wait a few seconds before proceeding.

•  Handle the SIM card with care. Avoid touching the gold metal contacts on the SIM card. If the contacts appear dirty, wipe them gently with a clean, dry cloth before reinserting.

•  Contact Pristine Internet support at 1-877-877-7716 if you are unsure whether you need a new SIM card or have any questions before proceeding.

Removing the SIM Card

The SIM card slot is located on the bottom of the Gateway behind a small protective flap.

The SIM card flap is located on the bottom of the Gateway.

1.  Power off the Gateway by unplugging it from the power outlet.

2.  Locate and open the protective flap on the bottom of the Gateway to expose the SIM card slot.

The flap open, exposing the SIM card slot.

3.  Press gently on the SIM card with your fingernail. The SIM card uses a spring-loaded mechanism — press straight in until you feel the spring activate and the card pops out slightly on its own.

The SIM card popped out slightly after the spring is disengaged — grip the edge and pull it free.

4.  Grip the edge of the card and pull it free from the slot.

⚠️  Do not attempt to pry or pull the SIM card out without first pressing it in. The slot uses a push-to-eject spring mechanism. Trying to pull the card out without activating the spring can damage the SIM card or the slot.

Inserting the SIM Card

⚠️  Caution — Read Before Inserting: There is an open space directly behind the SIM card slot inside the modem casing. If the SIM card is not aligned correctly and is pushed in at an angle, it can slip past the slot and fall into the interior of the device.

If this happens, the SIM card cannot be retrieved and a replacement SIM will be required. Take care to align the SIM card properly before pressing it in.

1.  Orient the SIM card correctly before inserting it:

•  The gold metal contacts should face toward the barcodes on the bottom of the modem

•  The cut corner of the SIM card should be on the bottom left

2.  Slide the SIM card into the slot carefully, keeping it flat and aligned with the slot opening.

3.  Press firmly with your fingernail until you feel and hear the card click into place. The click confirms the SIM is fully seated and the spring mechanism is engaged.

4.  Close the protective flap.

5.  Plug the Gateway back in and wait 3–5 minutes for the device to power on and reconnect.

6.  Check your internet connection. The LED should return to solid white once the device has reconnected to the network.

If the SIM Card Falls Into the Device

If the SIM card slips past the slot and falls into the interior of the modem casing, it cannot be retrieved without opening the device. Do not attempt to open the device yourself. Contact Pristine Internet support at 1-877-877-7716 and we will arrange a replacement SIM card for your account.
