How to Restart (Power Cycle) Your Spark

Because the Katalyst Spark has a built-in battery backup, simply unplugging the power cable will not restart the device. Follow these steps instead:

⚠️  Do not unplug the power cable to restart — the built-in battery will keep the device running. Use the power button as described below.

Step 1 — Power off:  Hold the Power button down until all the lights go out.

Step 2 — Power on:  Once the lights are off, hold the Power button again until the small Power light comes back on.

Step 3 — Wait:  Allow 3–5 minutes for the device to fully reconnect to the network. These devices take some time to come back up — be patient!

How to Hard Reset Your Spark

A hard reset using the Reset button will restore your device to its original settings. Note: a full factory reset can also be performed from within the modem's settings page. Use either method only as a last resort, as it will erase your Wi-Fi name, password, and any other custom settings.

⚠️  Important: Holding the Reset button for only 3–5 seconds will reconnect the device to the network — it will NOT perform a hard reset. You must hold it for the full 15 seconds to reset.

Step 1 — Locate the Reset button  on the side of the device (see photo on page 1).

Step 2 — Press and hold  With the device powered on, press and hold the Reset button for 15 seconds.

Step 3 — Watch the Power LED —  it will blink slowly, then at a medium pace, then rapidly. Release the button when it blinks rapidly.

Step 4 — Wait 3–5 minutes  for the device to finish resetting and fully reconnect. Be patient — this process takes time.

Step 5 — Reconnect to your Wi-Fi  using the default network name (KAT-XXXX) and password from the label on the bottom of the device.
