How to Check or Change Your APN

Katalyst Spark โ€” Setup Guide

The APN (Access Point Name) is the setting that tells your Spark which network gateway to use to connect to the internet. Think of it as the network's password โ€” if it is missing or incorrect, your device will not be able to get online even if it has a strong signal.

Before You Start

Every cellular network uses a specific APN. Contact Pristine Internet support before making changes so we can confirm the correct APN for your service plan. Call us at 1-877-877-7716 and a support representative will provide the correct APN and walk you through the steps if needed.

Once you have your APN, follow the steps below.

๐Ÿ’ก  Note: You do not need an active internet connection to access the admin panel and check your APN. You only need to be connected to your Spark's Wi-Fi or Ethernet โ€” the admin panel is available even when the device has no internet service.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Connect to your Spark Wi-Fi.

Make sure your phone, tablet, or computer is connected to your Katalyst Spark Wi-Fi network (KAT-XXXX or KAT-XXXX-5G). You can also connect using an Ethernet cable plugged into the LAN port.

2

Open a web browser and go to 192.168.8.1.

Open any web browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, etc.) and type 192.168.8.1 into the address bar. Press Enter. You will see the Spark login page.

3

Enter your credentials and click Login โ€” see the table below.

On the Internet dashboard, find the Manual Setup button next to the red Disconnect button and click it.

5

Check or update the APN.

On the Manual Setup screen, locate the APN field. If the field is blank โ€” type in the APN provided by Pristine Internet support. If the field shows an incorrect APN โ€” delete it and type the correct one. If the APN matches what support provided โ€” no changes are needed.

โš ๏ธ  Important: Do not change any other fields on this screen unless directed by a Pristine Internet support representative.

6

Click "Apply."

Once the correct APN is entered, click the Apply button. The modem will take a few minutes to apply the settings โ€” please be patient and wait for it to complete.

7

Test your connection.

After the settings have applied, open a browser and try loading a webpage. If the internet is working, you're all set.

8

If still not connecting โ€” reboot your Spark.

If the internet is still not working after applying the new APN, hold the power button on the front of the device until it powers off, then press it again to restart. Wait 3โ€“5 minutes for the device to fully reconnect.

Why Is the APN Important?

Even with a strong signal, a missing or incorrect APN will prevent the Spark from accessing the internet. This is one of the most common causes of a "no internet" situation on a device that otherwise appears to be working โ€” good signal, SIM card installed, but no connection.

If you have recently had a plan change, received a new SIM card, or switched networks, the APN may need to be updated. Always contact Pristine Internet support to confirm the correct APN before making changes.
